Why is Singpass being integrated into a dating app?
Creating a safe and trust-first space for our users to connect authentically is a priority for us. By offering government-backed verification, we are able to significantly reduce the number of scam profiles that require manual moderation.
This also allows our Trust & Safety and Customer Experience teams to reallocate resources to more nuanced harmful behavior support, such as responding to user reports of harassment, inappropriate messages, or offline misconduct.
How is users’ data protected when using Singpass login or verification?
The app does not store your Singpass credentials. All data transmission is encrypted and follows strict security protocols aligned with PDPA standards.
What personal information will the dating app have access to through Singpass?
The dating app will only access essential information that users explicitly consent to share, such as marital status, age, and gender. NRIC details are used strictly for the purpose of identifying and reporting fraudulent profiles or users, in line with security and compliance standards.
Can users choose not to use Singpass and still access the app?
Yes. Singpass verification is optional but highly recommended to help foster a safe online dating environment for all. Being verified also boosts your chances of matching.
What happens to the data after users delete the app or their account?
All Singpass-related data is deleted permanently when a user deletes their account, in line with PDPA.
Is this available to PRs, Work Pass holders, or only citizens?
Anyone with a valid Singpass account can use the feature, including citizens, PRs, and eligible pass holders.
Those who are ‘married’ under government records will not receive a ‘verified’ badge.
I am unverified. Will my flowers be seen by verified users?
Yes, your Flower will still be successfully delivered to the match you’re interested in.
However, do note that verified users have the option to manage the profiles they see and who they are able to receive likes and flowers from. This means that while your "Flower" is delivered, we cannot guarantee that the recipient will choose to open or respond to it. This is to ensure every user can control their experience and prioritise the interactions they wish to engage with.
Sending a Flower still helps with increasing your chances of a match! Just not with those who don’t want to match with an unverified profile.
