I'm not receiving the OTP code needed to sign in to my account

First, ensure that your app is updated to the latest version available on the App Store or Google Play Store. We periodically introduce new security features and require our users to sign in using the latest version to maintain the safety of our community.

If you're having trouble receiving the verification code, using the latest app version will also allow the app to provide you with a precise error message about why you're not receiving the code. Here's a guide to understanding the potential error messages you might encounter:

 

Error message What it means
That number isn’t working for us – can you try another? Keep in mind non-mobile and virtual numbers (VoIP) aren’t supported. This error pops up if your phone number is unable to receive SMS, or if it's VOIP or non-fixed. For security reasons, we don't allow sign-ups with VOIP or non-fixed numbers. It can also appear if your app version is too old.

We recommend trying again with a different, fixed phone number capable of receiving SMS – or trying again with the latest app version.

If you are not using a VoIP number and you keep getting this message, please fill out this form.
Looks like there have been too many tries with this number. Give it another go in an hour. You can try up to 5 times within 24 hours.

This message means the system has received too many code requests in a short amount of time. We have a rate limit on code requests for security reasons. Please wait at least an hour before requesting the code again.

 

If you still have issues after waiting for at least an hour, give this a shot:

  1. Review any numbers you've blocked to check if you've blocked a number that CMB might be using to send you your code. Unblock any potential numbers using the instructions provided below in this article.

  2. Test receiving verification codes from other services to see if it's working.

 
This number has been temporarily blocked as a security precaution. Try again in 24 hours.

This message can be shown for two reasons.

  1. Your phone number may have been associated with fraudulent activities and is temporarily locked.
  2. You're using an outdated version of the app.

Please ensure you have the latest version of the app and try again in 24 hours. 

If you still receive this message after waiting 24 hours, please fill out this form.
The app isn’t available in your country just yet. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to create an account at this time. This message will show if you use a phone number from a country that Coffee Meets Bagel does not support. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Darn, that verification code has already expired. Request another to try again. This message will show when you input an expired code. Please request another code.
Not quite! Check your code, then try again. This message will show when you input an invalid code. This can often happen when codes are delayed. If you notice the codes are coming in much later than when you requested it, please wait an hour before requesting another one.
We had some trouble sending your verification code. Please try again in 10 minutes. This message will show if you are offline or don't have a connection. 
Not receiving an SMS code and no error message.
  1. Check that you haven’t blocked any numbers and that “Do Not Disturb” mode isn’t activated.
  2. Delivery issues with your phone carrier may be causing a delay with your SMS code. If you haven’t received it, please wait an hour before trying again.

Requesting too frequently will trigger an error for "too many attempts"

 

 

How can I check if I accidentally blocked the number CMB is using to send my code?


Android daters:

  1. Go to Messages and tap on the three-dot menu in the top right corner.
  2. Tap Spam & Blocked.
  3. Tap on the three-dot menu, then tap Spam & Blocked to see the numbers you’re currently blocking.
  4. Find the message you’d like to unblock and tap Unblock.

iOS daters:
